Mike's Plan for Our Region
A Fair Deal For Hull and East Yorkshire
Mike Ross is standing to be the first Mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire because he believes our area deserves better. With over 20 years of local service and a proven track record as Leader of Hull City Council, Mike has always put our communities first — and now he’s ready to be a real champion for the whole region. As Mayor, Mike Ross will bring a fresh, positive approach to local leadership, focused on real priorities that matter to people across Hull and East Yorkshire.
Better Roads and Transport
Under both Labour and the Conservatives, local roads have crumbled and major improvements were scrapped. Mike will:
- Fight to get the cash needed to improve local roads, particularly the A1179 & A166.
- Expand public transport and campaign for a Beverley–York rail line
- Build on his successful pothole-busting work in Hull to improve roads across the region

Fixing Local Healthcare
Mike knows the NHS is in crisis. Too many people are struggling to see a GP or facing long waits for treatment.
As Mayor, Mike will:
- Demand investment in local health services and social care
- Fight for action to cut waiting times and improve access to GPs
- Fight to bring back services at Bridlington and Goole Hospitals.

Tackling Crime and Antisocial Behaviour
Feeling safe in your community shouldn’t be a luxury. Mike has already set up a Crime Safety Fund in Hull — and as Mayor he’ll:
- Fight for more frontline police and community safety funding
- Work with local residents to deliver safer streets
- Target anti-social behaviour head-on

Protecting Green Spaces
Overdevelopment has threatened the character of East Yorkshire. Mike will:
- Oppose inappropriate housing developments
- Fight for the infrastructure we are owed
- Protect our green spaces.
